Leonard Kubiak


Leonard Kubiak (born in 1899, died in 1939 in Warsaw) - Polish military, aviation mechanic.

He was an NCO in military aviation in Germany. He took part in the Greater Poland Uprising, then in 1918 he was appointed to professional military service in the 1st Wielkopolska Field Squadron, after reformation included in the 1st Air Regiment. The Orlinski and Kubiak aircraft on their return from the Warsaw-Tokyo-Warsaw flight at the Mokotowki Airport in Warsaw

In 1925, as a mechanic, he took part in a rally around the Mediterranean with pilot Ludomił Rayski on a Breuget XIX airplane. From August 27 to September 25, 1926, in the rank of sergeant on the same plane, together with the instructor of the Higher School of Pilots in Grudziądz, see Lt. Bolesław Orliński made a several-stage flight from Warsaw to Tokyo, on a route of 22 600 km both ways, despite the damage propellers and bottom lane on the route (the last 6680 km of the route were covered by a plane with a partly cut off lower left wing), and a very worn (as a result of losing oil) engine. In Japan, Polish airmen met with enthusiastic reception. For flying, like Bolesław Orliński, he received the Japanese imperial Order of the Rising Sun. Then he was transferred to the reserve, he opened a car workshop in Warsaw. He died during a bombing raid on the capital in September 1939. Bibliography
