Laugerie High

Laugerie High

Laugerie-Haute - a vast rocky outcrop, located near Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil in the French department of Dordogne. High-lung archaeological site.

First work on a post, under the direction of É. Lartet and Henry Christy, were conducted in 1863. During the excavation, rich stratigraphic sequences, including gravure, naturist, solutreian and magdalene levels, were exposed. Findings include examples of prehistoric art, including ivory figurine (the so-called Venus) and bones on the bones.
