Bruno Saul


Bruno Saul (born January 8, 1932 in Narva) is an Estonian and Soviet politician and chairman of the Estonian SSR in 1984-1988.

1951-1956 studied at the Leningrad Institute of Electrical Engineering, then became an engineer, and in 1960 was head of the Radio Estonian Radio of the SRR in Tallinn. Since 1960 a member of the CPSU and an employee of the Ministry of Communications of the Estonian SSR - Head of Department and Chief Engineer, since 1966 Deputy Minister, since 1969 Minister of Communications. In 1973 he graduated from the Higher School of Party at the CPSU Central Committee, and in 1977 he became a candidate of economic sciences. Since 1975 Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SRR, since 1983 Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Estonia, from 18 January 1984 to 16 November 1988 Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SRR. 1986-1990 candidate for a member of the CPSU Central Committee.
