Viktor Rinkevicius


Viktoras Rinkevičius (born March 11, 1950 in Inturkė in the Malacca region) - Lithuanian politician, agrarian entrepreneur and local government official, activist of the Lithuanian Union of Greens and Farmers, deputy to the Sejm of the Republic of Lithuania. Curriculum vitae

In 1969 he graduated from the agricultural technical school, and in 1982 he studied at the engineering faculty of the Lithuanian Agricultural University. He worked in various positions in kolkhozes, then in agricultural and local administration. From 1989 to 1990 he was the chairman of the executive committee of the Birjian region. In the years 1992-2000 he was the director of Biržų žemtiekimas, returned to him in 2008 as general director.

From 1990 he was involved in political activities under the Lithuanian Peasant Party. After the party's transformation in 2001, he became a member of the Peasant Party and New Democracy Union, on the basis of which the unified Lithuanian Peasants' Union was established, later renamed the Lithuanian Association of Farmers and Greens. He assumed the function of vice-chairman of this group.

In the years 2000-2003 he was a city councilor in the Birji region. He returned to the local self-government in 2011. In the years 2000-2008, for two terms, he held the office of deputy to the Sejm. In the elections in 2016, he was again elected to the Lithuanian parliament.
