Codex Grandior - a missing, one-code scripture of the Scriptures commissioned by the Cassiodorian, written in Latin in the 6th century n.e. This Code is based on three scriptures. It was the basis for the writing of the Amiatyan Code. Codex Grandior was one of the first copies of the Bible in one volume. Codex Grandior was one of at least three versions of the Latin Bible, which were recommended to the scribes of the monastery of Vivarium. Probably around 583, shortly after the death of Cassyodor, the code was moved to the Lateran library in Rome. In 678, he was taken from Rome by the Anglo-Saxon Abbot Ceolfrid to the British Isles to the two monasteries he founded - Wearmouth and Jarrow, located in present-day Nortumbria. He served as the basis for the drafting of the Amiatyan Code. Today, Codex Grandior is considered missing. Comments Bibliography
