Jelisiej Smo-Smolenko
Jelisiej Klimientjewicz Smolen-Smolenko, Russian Елисей Климентьевич Смола-Смоленко (born June 26, 1894 in Kiev, died November 13, 1964 in Palo Alto) is a Russian military lieutenant colonel, commander of the 4th Company of the 3rd Regiment, Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 5th Regiment of the Russian Corps of Defense during World War II, emigrant veteran activist.
In 1914, he graduated from the classical gymnasium in Zhitomir and in 1915 he was educated at the Secondary School in Odessa. Served in the 155th Battalion. He participated in the First World War. He went to the 321st Infantry Regiment. He was injured several times. In 1917, he became the commander of the machine gun branch. He reached the rank of Lieutenant. In January 1918 he joined the newly formed White Army Gen. Anthony I. Denikin. Served in the Guerrilla Regiment. From March of this year he served in the 2nd Company of the Officer Regiment. He participated in the 1st Cuban March. From September he served in the 1st Company of the 1st Officer Regiment Markowski. During fighting with the Bolsheviks he was injured three times (lost his right hand). In October 1920 he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. In mid-November this year, along with the white troops, was evacuated from Crimea to Gallipoli. He emigrated to Bulgaria. After the occupation of Yugoslavia by the German army in April 1941, he joined the newly formed Russian Protective Corps. From July 1944 he commanded the 4th Company of the 3rd Regiment. He was injured twice. At the beginning of 1945 he took command of 6 Company of 2nd Battalion 5th Regiment. He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class. After the war ended, he emigrated to Chile. He lived in the United States since 1958. He was a member of the Veterans' Association of the Great Russian War in San Francisco. He headed the inspection committee of the local Russian Federation Corps Corps. Bibliography
