Go-Toba-in no Shimotsuke


Go-Toba-in no Shimotsuke (Go-Toba-in no Shimotsuke, also known as Shinano, died after 1257) is a Japanese poet who created Kamakura. Counted to the Thirty Six Masters of Poetry.

Lady of the court of the emperor Go-Toby. Daughter of Hōribe no Masanaki, sister of Narimochi. Around 1204 she married Minamoto no Ienaga. At least until 1251, she took part in the literary competitions organized at the court.

Twenty-five works by Shimotsuke were included in the imperial anthologies of poetry, including two in Shinkokin wakashū
