Aleksandr Winokurow (politician)
Aleksandr Nikolaevich Winokur (Russian: Александр Николаевич Винокуров, born 9 August 1869 in Yekaterinoslav, died November 9, 1944 in Moscow) is a Russian revolutionary, communist, Soviet politician, president of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1924-1938). < p> 1888-1894 Studied at the Medical Faculty of the University of Moscow, since 1893 associated with the revolutionary movement in Russia, 1895 was one of the founders of a social-democratic organization in Yekaterinoslav, in 1895 he was arrested and imprisoned, and 1897 sentenced to exile in Siberia, from where he returned in 1902. Since 1898 a member of the SDPRR, after breaking up in the Bolshevik party, 1902-1904 worked as a physician in Korma, 1905-1908 in Yekaterinburg, later in St. Petersburg. In 1917 the chairman of the Council of the College of Physicians, since October 1917 the chairman of the Municipal Petrograd, since 1917 a member of the People's College of the Labor Commission of the Russian Soviet Republic. From March 20, 1918 to November 4, 1919 and again from April 16, 1920 to June 30, 1921, the National Social Security Commissioner of the RFSRR, 1921-1924 Member of the Central Committee for the Fight against Hunger at WCIK, from January 1924 to May 1938 President of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, then to death Head of the People's Commissariat of Health Protection of the USSR. Awarded the Order of the Red Banner. He was buried in the Novodevice Cemetery. Bibliography
