Peskarija Gate
Peskarija Gate (Vrata Peskarija, Velika vrata - "Great Gate", Vrata from Ribarnice - "Gate to fish market") - one of the five gates in the city walls of Dubrovnik. It is located just north of the Arsenal, on the main stretch of Stradun. It leads from Pred Dvorom Square in front of the Rector's Palace to the old harbor, directly to the square where fish was traded (hence the name) to the second half of the 19th century.
The gate was built in the years 1381-1387 in Gothic style. It is the largest city gate in Dubrovnik. Twice, in 1632 and in 1785, the city planned to build an outer gate, but eventually it did not.
There is a statue of St. Blaise in the niche above the gate. Bibliography
