Mayors and Independents

The movement originates from a self-government organization established in 2004 under the name of the Independent Mayors for the Region (Nezávislí starostové pro kraj). Its transformation into a political formation took place in 2009. The chairman of the STATE was Petr Gazdík, then mayor of Suchá Loz. In the same year, the group launched in the European Parliament elections as part of a broader electoral roll called Alternative, which won about 2.3% of the vote. In the 2010 local elections, Mayors and Independents took 6th place, gaining over 1200 seats of councilors. At the 2010 national election level, STAN has worked closely with the TOP 09 Karela Schwarzenberg party, receiving a number of parliamentary representation from her list, which he also maintained in 2013.

In 2017, the group initially formed a coalition coalition that was dissolved several months before the elections. Mayors and Independents had their own election list. Their leader was Jan Farský. The party received 5,2% of the votes and 6 seats in the lower chamber of the Czech Parliament.
