Gilbert de Lannoy (born 1386, died in 1462) - a Flemish traveler and diplomat. Curriculum vitae
He was the son of Gilbert I de Lannoy and Katarzyna Molembais. He was a participant in the war for the Bishopric of Liège, the fighting of the Armaniaks with the Burgundians in France, the Great War with the Teutonic Order (on the Teutonic side) and the Battle of Azincourt. Then in the service of Philip III Dobre he was sent in diplomatic missions to England (where he became the ambassador of Henry V), the Teutonic Knights, Poland, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Grand Duchy of Moscow. He was one of the Treaty negotiators in Troyes (1420). In 1421 he was sent by Henry V Lancaster to Palestine in order to take up the possibility of organizing a future crusade to restore the Kingdom of Jerusalem. He wrote a report from the journey (Les Pelerinages de Surye et de Egiptte, 1826). He described his peregrinations in the Central European region in Voyages et Ambassades (1840).
