Barbara Machnicka-Rowińska (born 23 February 1932, died 17 May 2016) is a Polish parasitologist, professor of veterinary science.

In the years 1961-2002 the employee of the Institute of Paraitology im. Witold Stefański of the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Scientific Council, Head of the Immunological Laboratory. Long-term member of the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Paraitological Society, Honorary Member of the PTP, editor-in-chief of the Annals of Parasitology magazine, 2007-2013. Member of the Paraitology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

She was a promoter of two doctoral dissertations.

In 1988, she was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for exemplary, exceptionally diligent performance of her professional duties and scientific achievements.

She lived at home on May 3 in Warsaw.

Myrmex Indikos, pol. Indian ant - an alleged species of gigantic ants (according to Herodot's description, larger than foxes, but smaller than dogs). The earliest mention of these creatures is dated to the fifth century BC, and its author is Herodotus. According to her, these ants inhabited the deserts of Persia and India and extracted gold from their sands. Several such creatures were kept in the residence of the King of Persia.
