Horses theory

The theory of horseshoes - the theory that groups with far-left and far-right ideologies are more similar to each other than to the center groupings.

The concept of the horseshoe theory was first used by Jean-Pierre Faye in his book Le siècle des idéologies. Initially used to describe political attitudes in the Third Reich (Nazis and Communists), later appeared in the discourse on the convergence of extremisms.

Proponents of the theory point to similarities between extreme left and extreme right groups, such as reluctance to foreign aid and immigration, similar methods of action, attitude to political opponents, tendency to believe conspiracy theories or lack of trust in state institutions. / p>
