Henry Austin Dobson
Austin Dobson at a later age
Henry Austin Dobson (born January 18, 1840, died on September 2, 1921) - English poet, representative of Parnassianism. Austin Dobson, because such a shortened form of his name and surname is widely used, in his work he reactivated the ancient forms of the poem, in particular the strophic systems, such as the French ballad, the roundabout, the saucepan, triolet and villanella. He imitated contemporary French poets, especially Theodore de Banville. He also wrote sonnets. In 1902, the poet received an honorary doctorate from the University of Edinburgh. Bibliography
