Castle Lány - baroque building located in Kladno district in the Central Bohemian Region west of Prague. The castle is situated in the area of ​​the north-eastern edge of the huge, forest-like forests (part of the Křivoklátsko Nature Protection Area). According to the oldest written sources from 1392, the wooden castle was owned by Hašek of Lán. At the end of the 16th century the village became the property of the royal estate of Emperor Rudolf II. The castle was rebuilt into a renaissance hunting palace. In 1652 the building was rebuilt, this time in Baroque style.

At the end of the 17th century it became the property of the Count von Wallenstein family. Jan Joseph von Wallenstein rebuilt it one floor higher in 1730. Shortly thereafter it was acquired by the prince von Fürstenberg, who ruled it until 1921. During this period there were numerous renovations of the castle, as well as significant redevelopments, to which the largest This is the year 1821-25. Prince Karl Egon II von Fürstenberg was tempted to raise the building by another third floor.

Since 1921 the castle has become the property of the state and is the official summer residence of the Presidents of the Czech Republic. It was bought for CZK 25 million at that time and then restored for a further 3 million CZK. More than 300 workers under the direction of Karol Fial worked on the renovation work. Already on August 6, it was put into service and soon became the favorite place of President Tomáš Masaryk, where he spent the last 17 years of his life (since 1935 he has been here almost permanently).

At that time, a monumental fountain with 5 water jets in the form of a lion's head was built at the castle's castle. They symbolized the five main components of the Czechoslovak state (Prague, Moravia, Silesia, Slovakia and Russia). After the death of former president Masaryk in 1937, the castle was relatively unused. The situation has changed for the better since 1990. The castle is not open to the public. You can visit only the surrounding park, the church and the nearby conservatory. The entrance cost is less than 20 CZK.
