Wu'er Kaixi
Wu'er Kaixi w 2013 roku Wu'er Kaixi (Chinese: 吾尔开希; pinyin: Wú'ěr Kāìī; ujg ئۆركەش دۆلەت Örkesh Dölet; born February 17, 1968) - Chinese Ujgur, one of the leading figures in the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989.
In April 1989, Wu'er, then a sophomore at Beijing Normal University, joined the protesters at the Heavenly Peace Square, quickly becoming one of the top leaders in the movement. On the 80th anniversary of the 4th of May Movement announced the New May Manifesto. He joined the hunger strike during which he was hospitalized due to health complications. After his departure, he took part in the meeting with Prime Minister Li Peng on May 18. Dressed in hospital pajamas, he accused Li of instructing students to protest instead of conducting dialogue with them. After the introduction of the state of emergency in Beijing, he was in favor of ending the protest, which was removed from the square by the most radical demonstrators on 22 May.
After the military crackdown on the Tian'anmen Square, Wu'er's name was on the list of the most sought after by the authorities, and he fled Hong Kong to France. From there he went to the US where he studied at Harvard University. In 1994 he settled in Taizhong, Taiwan, where he worked as a political commentator in the press and radio. He also joined Kuomintang. It is in favor of a full democratization of the political system in the PRC and the unification of mainland China and Taiwan. Bibliography
