Jan Kozyra


Jan Kozyra (1917-1994) - teacher, social activist.

Born on February 3, 1917 in Jelna near Leżajsk, son of Marcin and Zofia from Kowal's house. He graduated from the State Junior High School. Bolesław Chrobry in Leżajsk and in 1939 the State Pedagogical Institute. Ewarysta Estkowskiego in Lublin. During the occupation in the years 1939-1943 he taught at the general school licensed by the occupant, and from July 1943, for a year, he participated in secret teaching in his family Jelcz.

After the end of World War II, he worked as a teacher at the Nisko Public School and later as a manager at a similar school in Lubaczow. In 1952 he graduated from the higher vocational studies in economics at the Warsaw School of Economics. In the years 1955 and 1957 he attended professional courses. in Warsaw and Rzeszow.

In 1950 he became a teacher and director of the Tarnobrzeg Public High School. This function continued until 1974. From his name Tarnobrzeska "trainee" is commonly referred to as "Kozyrówka". In the years 1959 - 1964 he also directed the Basic Vocational School for Mining Workers of Sulfur Processing Plants in Tarnobrzeg. From 1974 to 1977 he worked as a teacher and deputy director of the Basic Vocational School in Tarnobrzeg. He retired in the 1980's and founded and directed the Vocational Training School at the Power Sector in Tarnobrzeg.

He was also an active social activist. For several years he held the mandate of the councilor of the MRN in Tarnobrzeg and the chairman of the Commission for Education and Education. He belonged to the co-founders of the Vocational Training Institute and the Society of Friends of Tarnobrzeg.

He died on 8 June 1994 in Tarnobrzeg and was buried at the municipal cemetery in Sobów.
