Gniezno Congress Medal of the Millennium
Millennium Medal of the Gniezno Congress - a distinction awarded by the president of the city of Gniezno in honoring merit for the city. The medal was created in memory of the 1000th anniversary of the Gniezno Congress. The first medals were received by the Presidents and Prime Ministers of the participating countries in the Gniezno Congress in 2000, including the German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. The author of the Millennium Medal of the Gniezno Congress is Roman Kosmala. The award of the Millennium Medal was completed in March 2015. Description
The antithesis of the medal refers to the illumination of a manuscript called the Ottoman Code or the Otto Codex of about 1000 years. The two-page scene is a symbolic tribute to four nations: Roma (Italy), Germania (Germany), Galia (France) and Sklavinia (Poland). Homage to the Emperor Otto III. Emperor Otton III is accompanied by the Polish ruler, Boleslaw the Brave, who holds the spear of St. Maurice. The portal of the cathedral of Gniezno, in which the Gniezno Doors are located, is depicted. The whole is crowned with the inscription: First Capital of Poland City of Saint Wojciech Gniezno. honored
