Ananda Mahidol

Ananda Mahidol (Thai: อา นันท มหิดล, born September 20, 1925 in Heidelberg, died June 9, 1946 in Bangkok) - King of Thailand (1935-1946), also known as Rama VIII.

He was the eighth ruler of Thailand from the Chakri dynasty. He took the throne after Uncle Pradhipoku (Rama VII) at the age of 10, being a student at a school in Switzerland. On June 9, 1946, he was found dead in his bed; the cause of death was a gunshot wound. The event was not fully explained, and the controversy over the circumstances of the King's death became the cause of the weakening of the civilian constitutional government and accelerated the return of military rule in Thailand.
