Paula Preradović
Paula Preradović (Paula von Preradović, born October 12, 1887 in Vienna, died on May 25, 1951 ibid) - Austrian poet and writer, author of the text of the national anthem.
She came from a family with Croatian roots, her grandfather was the poet Petar Preradović. She was born in Vienna, but spent her childhood in Pula, where her father was stationed (naval officer). During World War I she stayed in Vienna, where she began to create poetry. The first volume, entitled Südlicher Sommer, was published in 1929. During the Second World War, it was stopped by the Gestapo. In the years 1929-1948 she published several collections of poems and short stories, as well as the novel Pave und Pero.
In 1947 her text Land der Berge, Land am Strome (Country of the Mountains, a country on the river) was chosen as the anthem of Austria.
Her husband was journalist Ernst Molden (1886-1953), they had two sons Otto (1918-2002, publicist, founder of the European Forum Alpbach) and Fritz (1924-2014, journalist). Creation Bibliography Authoritative control (person):
