Sabawi Ibrahim at-Tikriti


Sabawi Ibrahim at-Tikriti (born February 27, 1947, 8 July 2013) is a Iraqi military officer, head of Iraq's intelligence services from 1991 to 1995. Curriculum vitae

He participated in the persecution of Iraqi Kurds, including the operation of Al-Anfal, considered a genocide. In 1991-1995 he headed the General Security Directorate, and in 1996 became one of Saddam Hussein's most important advisers. After overthrowing his brother-in-law as a result of US intervention in Iraq in 2003, he fled to Syria, where he probably co-sponsored and co-funded the anti-American guerrilla.

On the list of the most sought after activists of the Saddam Hussein regime published by the Americans in 2003, it was ranked 35th. In 2005, he was detained in Al-Hasace, Syria, and later released to the Americans along with 29 other Iraqis. It was a gesture of good will from the government of Bashar al-Assad, assuring that Syria accepted the overthrow of the current Iraqi regime and is ready to cooperate with the United States.

In 2007 he was found guilty of murder and crime at the birth of Iraqi and sentenced to death for his part in repressive measures against the Kurds. He remained in the US prison at Camp Cropper. He was never executed; He died in 2013 for cancer.
