Kláštorská dolina


Kláštorská dolina (Klasztorska Valley) - a long, wide valley in the Western Carpathians in Slovakia, falling in the direction from west to east and going down to the Turczańska Basin. In its upper part, above the Predvrícko settlement, the valley lies in the western part of the Mala Fatra (so-called Luczańska). In the lower part it forms the border between the Little Fatras (in the north) and the southern Żar range in the south.

The closing of the main course of the valley is based on a high 1200-1300 m above sea level. the ridge of Mala Fatra on the stretch from the Reváň peak (1204 m above sea level to the south to Kľak peak (1351 m) in the north, from the north by the fragment of the main ridge of Luczańska Mała Fatra from Kľak through Vrícke sedlo (950 m) to the Jankova peak (1163 m) m above sea level), and further down the eastward wide Kýčery ridge (1095 m above sea level.) From the south, the valley is limited by the ridge running from Revania through the Bukovec peaks (1148 m above sea level), Vrania skal (1004 m above sea level) and Holice (980 m above sea level) Vrícke sedlo (686 m) above sea level, followed by the Sokol ridge, ending with the Zniev peak with the ruins of Zniev castle. Departing the valley to the Turczańska Basin near the Znievem monastery at the height of approx. 500 m asl The length of the valley from the main watershed riverside near Kľak to its the exit of the Monastery of Zniev is 14 km.

In the upper part, above the village of Vrícko (about 600 m above sea level), the valley is divided into two almost equal branches: the southern one, occurring as Dlhá dolina and the northern one, in which, among others, is located Kľacký vodopád. Vríca stream flows along the entire length of the valley.

The lower part of the valley after Predvrícko and further through Vrícke sedlo to Kľačna runs the local road from the Turczańska Basin to the Kotlina Górnonitrzańska. There is also an asphalt road running from Predvrícka to Vrícka. In the upper part of the valley its northern branch runs from Vrícka marked tourist trails: green to Kľak and yellow to Vrícke sedlo (950 m). Bibliography
