Hamatecium - all the structures found in fungal fruiting bodies except sacks. These are various kinds of vile hyphae, among which the following elements are distinguished:
Occurrence and morphology of hamatecjum elements are of great importance in the determination of many species of fungi, especially microscopic ones. Typically, there are only some of these elements in sporocarps. In some fungi, eg mildew (Erysiphales), there are no hamper elements.
