Dissochaetus napoensis

Dissochaetus napoensis - a species of beetle from the family of fungus and subfamilies.

This species was described scientifically in 2005 by José M. Salgado on the basis of two males and females caught in the traps of carrion in 1976.

A beetle with a longitudinal oval body length of 3.6 to 3.8 mm, uniformly colored dark brown and slightly yellowishly hairy. Tentacles with a strongly swollen seventh member and a clearly asymmetric eighth member. On the head, numerous strong points and slightly uneven punctures. Eyes and wings strongly developed. The male is characterized by large, inclined arrays inwardly at the apex. The central edeagus patch is shorter than the paramer and as long as lamina basalis and bearing a single bristle margin. In the inner bag, there are 2 post-topicated elements present, and one kidney on the bottom, at the base. The female has large, highly sclerotic spermatoid patches with a long, membranous connecting cord.

An insect known only from two sites in the Ecuadorian province of Napo.
