Dejan Jidan


Dejan Židan (born October 16, 1967 in Maribor) - Slovenian politician, deputy to the National Assembly, deputy prime minister and minister, since 2014 chairman of the Social Democrats. Curriculum vitae

He completed his veterinary medicine at the University of Lublin and managed the University of Maribor.

He became involved in the activities of the Social Democrats. In the years 2010-2012 he was the Minister of Agriculture in the government of Borut Pahor. In 2011 he obtained the mandate of a Member of the National Assembly. In 2013, he headed the Agriculture and Environment Ministry in the office of Alenka Bratušek.

In May 2014, he assumed the chairmanship of the Social Democrats, when Igor Lukšič resigned from the leadership of the party. In July of that year, Dejan Židan gained parliamentary re-election, and in September 2014 he became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food in the Government of Mira Cerara.
