J.D. Edwards

J.D. Edwards is an American IT company founded in March 1977 based in Denver, Colorado. Its founders were John Thompson, Dan Gregory and Ed McVaney.

The company was involved in creating accounting software for IBM minicomputers, starting with System / 34 and / 36, and System / 38 since the mid 1980s, then for AS / 400. The company profile has gradually evolved towards an ERP-independent platform, which was named OneWorld in 1996.

In May 1988, one of the co-founders, Ed McVaney, donated over $ 32 million to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, creating J.D. Edwards Honors Program, which is dedicated to educating professionals combining information management with management.

In June 2003, the company agreed to take over PeopleSoft, which took place in July 2003, and OneWorld was added to the PeopleSoft product line as EnterpriseOne. At the end of 2004, Oracle Corporation acquired Peoplesoft and continues its development of tools developed by J.D. Edwards. A project called "Project Fusion" is being developed to replace the current Oracle Applications Suite, as well as software previously developed by Peoplesoft (Enterprise) and J.D. Edwards (OneWorld / EnterpriseOne and World).

JD Edwards is one of the world's leading ERP systems. The system is designed primarily for companies characterized by extensive distribution and manufacturing companies.

The production module is the biggest asset of this system. In most of the online rankings, the JD Edwards production module is considered to be the best of its kind among ERP systems. The power of this module determines the ability to simultaneously handle both process and discrete production. In addition, the product configurator allows you to handle production on order. The system also supports modern production management methods, such as kanban. The complete repair module is complete, allowing for efficient management of technical maintenance of production lines and machinery.

The second most highly rated module is the distribution module. The range of advanced pricing and promotion services is worth mentioning, which thanks to its flexibility is able to handle a huge number of possible pricing and discount policies. It is also worth mentioning here is the high-storage warehouse management system that offers comprehensive warehouse services.

The system is open and the licensee has access to the source code.
