Genitalia - an inaccurate biological term referring to male or female genitals and related anatomical structures.

In broad terms, internal and external genitals are mentioned, but insects usually refer only to the external genitals. Also, in the case of humans, this is a colloquial term for either feminine or male external genitals.

In spiders, this term is sometimes narrowed down to scrounged male and female reproductive structures.

The earliest mention of these creatures is dated to the fifth century BC, and its author is Herodotus. According to her, these ants inhabited the deserts of Persia and India and extracted gold from their sands. Several such creatures were kept in the residence of the King of Persia.
