Charles Bartha
Károly Bartha (born 4 November 1907 in Budapest, February 4, 1991 in Boston) is a Hungarian swimmer, Olympic medalist and European Champion.
He first competed at the Olympic Games during the VIII Summer Olympics in Paris in 1924. The 16-year-old Hungary took part in one swimming competition - a 100-meter-long diver race. In the qualifying round, he started in race number two, which he won with a time of 1: 18.0. He reached the finals as the best player from third place. Eventually, with a time of 1: 17.8 he won a bronze medal.
At the 1st European Championships in Budapest in 1926 he started as one of the favorites to gold. Eventually he became vice-champion of the continent, losing to German Gustav Fröhlich by the decision of the judges, because the clock showed the same time for both players.
