Kazimierz Grotowski
Kazimierz Grotowski (born January 26, 1930 in Rzeszow, Poland, July 23, 2017) is a Polish physicist, professor of physical sciences, academic teacher at the Jagiellonian University. Curriculum vitae His father, Marian, came from Rzeszów. Mother, Emilia from Kozlowski, Lwowianka, was a teacher. Kazimierz's younger brother was famous theater director Jerzy Grotowski.
He studied physics at the Jagiellonian University in the years 1948-1952. He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1958, and in 1963 received a doctorate degree from Habilitation. He was nominated for an associate professor in 1971, and a professor in 1977. In 1996-1999 he was the head of the Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University. Until 1971 he also worked at the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Between 1971-1998 he was the chairman of the Program Council (later transformed into the Scientific Council, then the Board of Directors) of Cyfronet. He was a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and the chair of its Astrophysics Committee. He was also a member of the European Physical Society and the American Physical Society. Between 1975 and 1977 he was the President of the Cracow Branch of the Polish Physical Society. He was interested in sailing, alpinism and speleology.
In 2009 he donated to the National Library of Poland. The George Archaeological Archive deposited in his home by his brother before leaving for the United States. Bibliography
