Neoklis Silikiotis
Neoklis Silikiotis, gr. Νεοκλής Συλικιώτης (born January 24, 1959 in Limassol) - Cypriot politician, party activist, former minister, Member of the European Parliament for the eighth term. Curriculum vitae
Studied mechanics at the RWTH Aachen Polytechnic in Germany, was a co-founder and president of the Federation of Cypriot Students in this country. On his return to Cyprus he worked in the EDON organization, youth of the Communist Progressive Workers' Party (AKEL). In 1988-1991 he was the Secretary General of the Cypriot Federation of Student Associations (POFEN). In 1995 he became a full time employee of the Central Committee of the AKEL Party, and joined the Communist Political Bureau in 2010.
In 2006-2007, he was Minister of Internal Affairs in the government of Tasos Papadopoulos. He returned to office in 2008 in the office of Dimitris Christofias. In 2012 the president entrusted him with the function of Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism, which he held until 2013.
In the 2014 elections, Neoklis Silikiotis, on behalf of his party, was given the mandate of the 8th MEP.
