Zygmunt Zawadzki (boxer)


Zygmunt Zawadzki (born 12 April 1936, died 6 December 2006 in Bydgoszcz) is a Polish boxer, medalist of the European Championship.

He was born in Lublin and raised in Koszalin, where he also started his adventure with a box at the local Guard, and then briefly visited Chorzów. Called for basic military service, he became a competitor of Zawisza Bydgoszcz with whom he joined the end of his professional and coaching career. Participating in the European Championships in Lucerne 1959, he won a bronze medal in the category of rookie. When he competed in the Polish championship, he won the country's vice-championship in 1960 in the weight of the coyote, and the bronze medal in 1961, in the pen weight. Eight times he played in the Polish national team between 1957 and 1960, scoring 6 victories and taking 2 defeats.

In the ring, he fought 278 fights, of which 200 won, 48 was tied, and 30 lost. After the end of his sports career in 1967, he became a coach of Zawisza.
