Mieczyslaw Litwinski


Mieczysław Eligiusz Litwiński (born July 30, 1955 in Będzin) is a Polish composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and music educator. Life and Work

Litvinski studied composition at Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz and Zbigniew Rudziński at the Warsaw Academy of Music. During his stay in the United States in 1986-1991 he was influenced by John Cage's work, which he had personally met. He later studied with Karlheinz Stockhausen. Since 1991 he has lived and worked in Kaunas, and in 2000 he came to Warsaw. He was co-author of numerous compositions and co-founders of many instrumental groups, including: Cytula Tyfun da Bamba Orchestra (with Andrzej Bieżan, Krzysztof Knittlem and Tadeusz Suderek, 1981), Independent Study of Electroacoustic Music (with Krzysztof Knittlem, Stanisław Krupowicz, Andrzej Bieżan and Tadeusz Suderek, 1982-84), Light from Poland (1985-86), Litwinski ensemble & amp; Choir (1987-91), Sol et Luna duo (with Saba Zuzanna Krasocko, since 2000) and improvised music group Bałotni Kawalerowie (since 2004), where she deals with Intuitive Music. As an interpreter of contemporary music and his own compositions, he visited as a soloist and with many European countries, as well as the USA, Canada, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Iran. In addition to the songs and chamber music of Litvinski, ballet music (including Ohad Naharin, Royston Maldoom, Muna Tseng, Amy Sue Rosen, Pat Cremins, Tamar Rogoff and Marika Blossfeldt), dramatic and filmmaking (including music for Raising Arizona and Barton Fink by Coen Brothers). In his compositions he combines the music of different styles, epochs, and geographical origin.
