Feast of Jesus Christ, Supreme and Eternal Priest

The feast of Jesus Christ, the Most High and Everlasting Priest - a liturgical feast in the Catholic Church designated by the Apostolic See in 2012 on Thursday after the Pentecost Sunday. The first celebration took place on 23 May 2013.

In some religious communities and countries this holiday has been celebrated for years. It was extended to the entire Catholic Church by Benedict XVI, at the end of his pontificate. The celebrations should emphasize the holiness of the clergy's life and stimulate activities aimed at increasing the number of vocations to the priesthood.
