Christian Fridolin Scharfetter (born October 3, 1936 in Innsbruck, died November 25, 2012 in Zurich) - Swiss psychiatrist, psychopathologist, author of the psychopathology textbook (first edition in 1976, 6th edition in 2010).

The son of Helmut Scharfetter and Annemarie nee Beitelmeier had a twin brother, Friedbert. He studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck. In 1972 he was habilitated under the direction of Jules Angst. From 1973 professor of psychiatry at the University of Zurich. He retired in 1999.

In 2011, he was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma with a poor prognosis (Klatskin tumor). He decided to commit assisted suicide. According to the last will, ashes were scattered in his garden. Selected works
