Konstantyn Angelos Dukas


Constantine Angelos Dukas (Greek: Κωνσταντίνος Άγγελος Δούκας, Latin: Konstantinos Angelos Doukas, born ca. 1173) - a Byzantine aristocrat, usurper who tried to overthrow the emperor Isaac II Angelos in 1193. Curriculum vitae

He was the son of Isaac Angelos, governor of the military of Cilicia, grandson of Constantine Angelos. His uncle was Isaac II Angelos. He was one of the chiefs who suppressed the uprising in Bulgaria. In 1191 he made an unsuccessful attempt to gain power by proclaiming himself an emperor. He moved towards Adrianople, but was imprisoned by his companions, perhaps bribed and handed over to Isaac II. He was blinded by the order of the emperor. Bibliography
