Medianta
The 1997 Mountain Bike World Cup is the 7th edition of this event. Organized by the UCI, it included cross-country and downhill competitions for women and men. The first event took place on April 6 in the American Napa Valley, and last September 7, 1997 in the French Annecy. Cross-country champion Alison Sydor among women and Frenchman Christophe Dupouey among men, and downhill: American Missy Giove among women and Frenchman Nicolas Vouilloz among men. This season in the cross-country triumphed: Italian Paola Pezzo among women and Frenchman Miguel Martinez among men, and in downhill were Italy's Corrado Hérin among men and again American Missy Giove among women.
