Gallo Record Company
Gallo Record Company - South Africa's largest South African record label. The label owns 75% of the music that was recorded in South Africa. History
In 1939, a Gramophone Record Company was established around the small music retail store in the center of Johannesburg.
In 1985 GRC was incorporated into the Gallo Group. Peter Gallo changed its name to Gallo-GRC. In 1989, the company's name was shortened to Gallo Record Company.
In 1996, Gallo merged with RPM Records. A year later it was bought by Tusk Music.
Gallo (Africa) Ltd. is part of Johnnic Communications. In May 2006, Warner Music International created Warner Music Gallo Africa, which expanded the company's distribution operations into electronic distribution. Bibliography
