Zofia Szmydt


Zofia Szmydt (born July 29, 1923 in Warsaw, died November 26, 2010) is a Polish mathematician. Curriculum vitae

She was the daughter of Jozef and Zofia from Gąsiorowska's house. The mathematical studies began on the secret sets of the University of Warsaw, with his family was displaced from Warsaw after the Warsaw Uprising and settled in Cracow. In 1946 she completed her mathematical studies at the Jagiellonian University. In 1949 she defended her doctoral thesis On the Integral Equations of the First Differential Equation, written under the direction of Tadeusz Ważewski. Until 1952 she worked at the Jagiellonian University. From 1949 to 1971 she was an employee of the Department of the Krakow Institute of Mathematics. In 1958 she received a doctorate degree. In 1961 she was appointed an extraordinary professor. In 1971 she became an employee of the University of Warsaw. In 1984 she received the title of full professor. In 1993 she retired.

In her research she dealt with the theory of differential equations, potential theory, and distribution theory. In 1972 she published the book Fourier Transformations and Linear Differential Equations. Awards and decorations
