Yekaterininskaya railway (Russian: Екатерининская железная дорога, Jekatierininskaja geleznaja doroga) - historical railway line in the Russian Empire, built between 1882 and 1904, connecting Donbass with the Krzyworoskie Basin, in the area of ​​present Russia and Ukraine.

The railway passed through the areas of the Kharkiv, Kherson, Taurid, Yekaterinsky Governorate, Donski Army. It played a large role in the development of the metallurgical industry in the southern area of ​​the Russian Empire and in the export of its products. From the beginning, the Ekaterininska Railway was owned by the state.

In 1913, the length of the line was 2827 volships (3045 km), including 1,062 vistas (1144 km) of a double-track line. The rolling stock included 1250 steam locomotives, 37,072 freight wagons and 995 passenger cars. The railway had large railway workshops in Yekaterinoslav (the largest in Russia) and smaller ones in other cities. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was the railroad of the most intense freight traffic in Russia. From major engineering facilities, the course of the railway was among others bridge on the Dnieper in Yekaterinoslav and a bridge over Inguliec. The railway maintained 18 railway schools.

After the Bolshevik regime gained power as a result of the October Revolution, in May 1918 the railway was included in the network of railways subordinate to the People's Commissariat of Transport (NKPS). Bibliography
