Rick Sanders
Richard Joseph "Rich" Sanders (born October 31, 1945, died October 18, 1972) is an American wrestler. Two-time Olympic medalist.
He fought in a free style. He participated in two Olympic Games (IO 68, IO 72), on both he won silver medals. In 1968 he took second place in weight up to 52 kilos, in the final he was defeated by Japanese Shigeo Nakata, in 1972 in weight up to 57 kilograms he lost again with the Japanese, this time with Hideaki Yanagida. He won three medals of the World Cup: gold in 1969, silver in 1967 and bronze in 1966. In 1967 he became the champion of the Pan American Games.
He died in a car accident shortly after the Olympics in Munich during his stay in Yugoslavia.
