Fasada

Facade of the house in Lądek-Zdrój The facade of the Church of the Visitation in Warsaw

Facade - the main, impressive elevation of the building, with a particularly large decorativeness, often even monumental, fulfilling representative functions towards the entire building, and thus stand out from the other façades. Typically, this is the front elevation, but in the corner buildings there may be two facades, and in the free-standing ones, even three or all.

The facade, in addition to particularly rich decorations, can also be equipped with additional architectural elements, such as columns, etc. (excluding gates that constitute a separate architectural element of the building), and its character refer to representative buildings from past architectural epochs, often even ancient ones . However, it can also take a different form, eg have an ultramodern character. Bibliography
