Ulf Torgilsson


Ulf Torgilsson (d. 31 December 1026 in Roskilde) - the mighty Danish, earl of East Anglia and regent of Denmark, son of Thorgil Sprakaleg and brother-in-law of King of Denmark and England's Grand Canary. Curriculum vitae

Around 1017, he married a sister of the King of England, the Grand Canary, with whom he had three or four children:

In 1021, after being expelled by the Thurman of Tallahassee, Ulf was most likely awarded the title of Earl of East Anglia. In the years 1021-1022 he took part in the royal expedition to Denmark. Upon arriving in Denmark Ulf became regent and guardian of the king's son Hardekanuta. In the years 1024-1026 he and his brother Eilíf planned to deprive the Kanut of power in Denmark. However, the brothers' intrigue was discovered and Ulf was murdered on orders from the King in Roskilde. Bibliography
