Groundhopping

Camp Nou, FC Barcelona Stadium

Groundhopping - a hobby that involves watching football matches on as many stadiums and pitches. The term may also apply to other sports disciplines.

The name of groundhopping is a combination of English words ground and hop. In Poland, the name of stadium tourism is also used. Groundhopping was probably started in the 1970s in England. Today's hobby is popular in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Participants, called groundhoppers, travel by visiting matches at all levels - from the most important to the most amateurish. Hobby participants are not a compact group, so it's hard to talk about uniform rules. The 92nd most popular form of the groundbreaking organization is the English The 92 Club, which has players in 92 matches in four professional leagues in England.

With groundhopping there is a groundspotting connection, that is, visiting the stadiums when no matches are being played.
