The parliamentary elections in Indonesia in 1987
The general elections in Indonesia in 1987 took place on April 23. These were the fourth elections organized in the country after the takeover of power by General Suharto (the fifth in the history of independent Indonesia after the elections of 1955, 1971, 1977 and 1982). After the changes, there were 400 seats (for a five-year term) in the House of Representatives with 500 seats to be won. The remaining 100 seats were reserved for representatives of the army (the military did not have an active electoral law) and persons delegated by Suharto. Results
