Wilmya Zimmermann


Wilmya Zimmermann (born July 30, 1944 in Heerlen) is a Dutch and German politician and trade union activist, Member of the European Parliament for the fourth term. Curriculum vitae

She was born in the Netherlands and later moved to Germany. She worked as a technician and a medical assistant. She has worked in the ÖTV trade union, as well as in social organizations such as AWO or Greenpeace. In 1988, she joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany, and sat on party-governing bodies at the local level. She was the vice-president of the Social Democratic Women's Organization (ASF) in Upper Franconia. In the years 1994-1999 she held the MEP's mandate. She belonged to the socialist factions. in the Committee on Civil Liberties and Home Affairs. After leaving PE, she remained an active SPD activist and her women's organization.
