Cynthia (Barnfield)


Cynthia - poet of the Renaissance English poet Richard Barnfield, the title song of the volume Cynthia with Certain Sonnets, and the Legend of Cassandra, published in 1595. The work is written in the Spenser verse, the verse of the nine-word rhymed ababbcbcc. In the following verse the poet used alliteration: Wit without wealth [...] Wealth wanting wisdom's worse. Quote in the original sixteenth century spelling:
