Girl from Brakel


The girl from Brakel (German: Dat Mäken von Brakel) is a humorous fairy tale published by the Grimm brothers in 1815 in the collection of their fairy tale. Contents

The action takes place in the town of Brakel. The main character, she is a young unmarried girl who prays in the chapel to the statue of St. Anne, presented as a woman with a child (young Mary). The girl asks St. Anna to help her marry a young man who likes her. The boy (sacristan) behind the figure, tells a woman: "you will not get him." Then the woman, thinking that the statue child said it, complained to her asking her mother to speak. Bibliography
