In the battles of Taurogi he blew up an armored transporter and three cars from the enemy. Later he distinguished himself during the fighting in East Prussia, on August 7, 1944 in battle for Tupiki (now in Lithuania) at the head of the battery pierced through the enemy's tank.

By the resolution of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of March 24, 1945, "for exemplary execution of command and demonstration of heroism and heroism in the fight against the German-Fascist invaders" was awarded the title of Hero of the USSR.

In 1945 he participated in the fight against the Japanese in the Far East, in November 1946 he was demobilized, and in 1947-1950 he studied at the Allied University of Foreign Trade. Later he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR. a commercial adviser to the USSR Embassy in the USA, Bulgaria, as well as the deputy foreign minister of the USSR. From October 1976 to January 1986 chairman of the board of the State Bank of the USSR, then retired. Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from the 9th to 11th tenure (1977-1989). Since 1981 he was a deputy member, and between 1982 and 1986 he was a member of the CPW Central Committee.
