Contents

The action of the novel takes place during World War II and soon after. A group of resistance fighters swears at a Nazi dictator. The action fails because one of the fighters warned the Germans. All participants are killed, except for one. After the war, the only survivor of the action was widely accused of treason. In fact, another traitor was a traitor who was killed by the Germans. The survivor of the action was unable to prove his innocence, because the only witness who could overturn false accusations was the would-be victim of the assassination - the Nazi dignitary was saved. The earliest mention of these creatures is dated to the fifth century BC, and its author is Herodotus. According to her, these ants inhabited the deserts of Persia and India and extracted gold from their sands. Several such creatures were kept in the residence of the King of Persia. Gold was to be obtained by caravans made up of several camels in the heat of the day, when the ants were protected underground.
