In 1907 he joined the Socialist-Revolutionary-Maximist Party, in 1912-1914 he studied at K. Fon's painting studies in Moscow, in 1914 he graduated from the Legal Department of the Moscow State University. He worked as the head of the Sanitary Brigade, controller of the land association and assistant to the legal counsel of the Kiev district of water transport, 1918-1920 studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Ukrainian Academy of Fine Arts. In 1919, he was a commissioner for the liquidation of church property, a member of the prosecutors 'office of the Kiev Gubernial revolutionary Tribunal and a member of the prosecutors' court of the Supreme Court of Cassation of the Ukrainian SSR, and 1919-1920 member of the Kyiv governorate of justice and a member of the Ukrainian Socialist-Revolutionary-Borotbists Party. In 1920 he became a member of the RKP (b), in June 1920 he became the chairman of the Volhynian Provincial Committee of KP (b) U and Volhynian provincial revolutionary committee, 1920-1921 was the chairman of the Volhynian gubernial labor and peasant inspection, then deputy chairman of the executive committee of the Volhynia Governor's Council in Volyn. In 1921 he became the deputy head of the arts sector of the People's Commissariat for Education of the Ukrainian SSR, then head of the Department of Painting Education of the People's Commissariat for Education of the Ukrainian SSR, until 1924 he headed the Organizational Department of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the Ukrainian SSR, 1924-1930 he was the rector of the Kiev Institute of Fine Arts. At the same time, 1925-1928 he was a p.o. Director of the Museum of the Arts of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, 1925-1933 academic employee of the Department of Science and Research of the History of Fine Arts and All-Ukrainian Society of Marxist-Leninist Universities, and 1926-1930 chairman of the Society of Revolutionary Art of Ukraine and chairman of the Higher Committee of the Cinema Repertory at the People's Commissariat of Justice of the Ukrainian SSR. In the years 1930-1933 he lectured at the Kiev Institute of Cinematography, the Institute of Music and Drama and the Kyiv Art Institute, at the same time he managed the Kiev branch of the State Publishing House of the Ukrainian SSR, and until 1933 headed the Sector of Literature and Art of the Kyiv Regional Committee of KP (b) U. < / p>

In 1933 he was expelled from the Polish United Workers' Party (b), on 12 July 1933 he was arrested, then sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, until August 1936 he served his sentence in the labor camp. After being released from 1936, he worked in Moscow as a graphic-retoucher, and in 1939 a senior research fellow at the Museum of Art and History in Zagorsko, 1939-1941 taught in a secondary school in Możajsk, and in 1941-1942 in Tatarska ASRR, 1942-1944 lectured at the State University in Tashkent. In 1943 he was rehabilitated, in 1944-1950 he was a senior researcher at the Institute of Art History, Folklore and Ethnography of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, 1945-1947 lecturer and head of the Art History Department of the Kiev Institute of Art, and 1945-1952 academic employee of the Institute of History and Theory of Architecture at the Academy of Architecture Ukrainian SSR. From 1956 until the end of his life, he was in the sector of the Scientific and Research Institute of Theory, History of Architecture and Building Technology of the Academy of Building and Architecture of the Ukrainian SSR, in 1958 he regained membership in the party.
